Hello, lovely readers! I am Miyo Lo Coco Amawa, the Chief Creative Officer of MIYOCO, and I am thrilled to welcome you to our brand new blog. Here, I aim to provide you with a glimpse into the enchanting world that inspires our exquisite creations.
In my inaugural post, I want to take you back to the beginning, to the heart of my passion for jewelry – a journey that intertwines my love for fashion and my profound connection with the art of design.
Why Jewelry?
First, my love affair with jewelry began during my formative years as a designer, stimulated by a fascination with the world of fashion. Because the allure of glamorous dresses on the red carpet or the fashion shows adorned with music, captivated my imagination.
Consequently as I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, I found myself at a crossroads, torn between continuing down the path of product design or venturing into the fashion. Seeking guidance, I turned to Professore Adachi, a maestro in the fashion industry. His sage advice encouraged me to consider becoming an accessory designer, exploring the realms of hats, bags, shoes, and, of course, jewelry. Following this guidance, I embarked on a jewelry-making summer course in the artistic city of Florence, Italy. Here, the world of jewelry embraced me, merging my dreams of fashion with my love for product design. It was maybe a kind of revelation, and I knew I had found my calling.
My Designer Spirit Model
As I have said, from the teenager I was fascinated by fashion and stage costumes, in fact my dream was to embody the poetic visions of designers like KEITA MARUYAMA. Wearing his hand-embroidered sweaters and dresses is an experience irreplaceable. Each piece magically turns a rainy day into a sunny day. Moreover you can feel also the meticulous design, conceived with boundless imagination, down to the smallest detail.
Therefor one day during my visit to his flagship shop at Aoyama, I bought his creation photo book, a treasure that became my creative bible, which influencing the essence of our jewelry pieces.
